Thanks for this helpful post. I’ve been trying to find how to compile a module swf in FlashDevelop and even I found the ctrl + F8 to compile current document, it always output the swf to the project root directory which was not where I wanted it to be. I need to move the output module swf from project root to deploy/modules every time I recompile it! Your post helped me a lot.

Just a note. I used to think I have to use a .as instead of a .mxml file to put the @mxmlc directive in the “class file” of the module. But later I found that you can also put the @mxmlc directive in the block in a .mxml file.

Thank you a lot!! I was this close to getting completely mad, because I couldn’t find a way to compile my swf modules. Actually, Flash Develop documentation on compiling is quite poor. Thanks a lot!
